Washington D.C. Trip - Day 2

Ok, so Washington D.C. day 2 was kind of soggy.

Cloudy days make for great pictures. . .

We started the morning. . . and finished the morning. . .by standing in line at the National Archives. . in the rain.  With nearly 1 1/2 hours, you have lots of time to look at building details.

The kids liked this detail the best. . . what do you see?

But we got to see the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights.  We couldn't take pictures, so you'll have to just take our word for it.

We stopped by the National Museum of Art. . . because it was close . . . and we were soaked.
So we decided to each lunch in the cafeteria below.

We got to see some Monet.

And some Van Gough.

Then we headed over to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to see how they make Money out of thin air.
a $20.00 bill costs about $0.09 to make.  The building looked about like it did when I was there as a kid.  Obviously none of the $ goes to upgrading their facilities.
We were able to measure the worth of our children. . . or at least compare their height to stacks of $100 bills.

We weren't quite soaked enough, so we headed back over to the Natural History Museum.

We saw about 1/3 of the dinosaurs we can see in the Thanksgiving Point Museum. . but dinosaurs are always fun.
 Marthe liked the petrified wood.

 Wooly Mammoths are always fun.

Be careful you don't get eaten by some prehistoric shark thingy.

And there is always huge diamonds to see, like the Hope Diamond.

Or Giant Goliath Bird-Eating Spiders are fun.

And, after such a long day, you might find creative ways to sleep on your bed.

End of Day 2.
